SOUND

Sound is an ongoing and evolving collection of inquiries into sound as a creative, methodological, and pedagogical practice. Bringing together field recordings, sonic compositions, listening experiments, and collaborative explorations, this project makes space for experimenting with how sound participates in the making of worlds, relations, and knowledge. These experiments follow emerging questions, encounters, and possibilities for thinking and making with sound.

Keep an eye on this growing archivefor experiments, unfinished propositions, and sonic provocations that inform and extend this body of work.

5.
Contest

A strike begins with a mark. Then another. Marks accumulate, overlap, and transform the surface. Every strike leaves a trace—not only on what is struck, but on the one who strikes. Words strike differently, but they strike nonetheless. What do you fight and for what? What do you resist, contest, critique, defend, or imagine otherwise? Pick up the pencil. Make your strike. Let the marks accumulate until the paper can hold no more. Strike is a response to my readings of philosophers who theorize subjectification through the metaphor of the “white wall/black hole” machine. It asks: what happens when the white wall is rendered inoperative through collective gestures and can no longer organize recognition and identity? Perhaps another game begins, of encounter not identity, making not classification, listening, arguing, repairing, drinking tea, laughing, and dancing. Strike asks what becomes possible when a fight is not between binaries, but for co-composed worlds, one strike at a time.

This work was exhibited at Good Sport Gallery September 4-27, 2026.

Children Co-Design Cities of the Anthropocene

Children Co-Design Cities of the Anthropocene (CCCA) was a collaborative research project carried out at the London Bridge After School Program in Dorchester, Ontario. It unfolded alongside children, educators, and researchers—attending to the ways children are already entangled with the textures of urban life. This project did not begin with a question about the future, but with a commitment to the present—to the lived childhoods, situated subjectivities, and multispecies relations that compose the everyday.

Improv Sound, London ON

On June 7, 2024, at Forest City Gallery, Simone and I embarked on a journey of sound improvisation during Audiopollination in London, Ontario. Our performance combined natural ambient sounds, experimental use of materials, and live experimental interactions to craft a unique auditory experience.

MALVIKA AGARWAL · Walking In A Charcoal World

The use of graphite and a MIDI Controller during this performance was an experiment. It was a new way of making marks, and many things went wonderfully, and some things went wrong. I misjudged the configuration that would translate from paper to graphite to sound, which led to the footsteps and flutters sounding instead like scratchy static. The above audio is an attempt at redemption.

Threading, Making and Dreaming, London ON

An evening of conversation, embroidery, and reciprocity as we listened to anti-extractive stories from the plateaus of the Ecuadorian Andes. Threading together minor collective dreams that might travel back into those very mountains to join their people as they resist Canadian neocolonialism. Lead by Sisa Pacari Bacacela and Valeria Leon. Co-curated and led by Dr. Cristina Delgado Vintimilla and Dr. Veronica Pacini-Ketchabaw. I served as the community cordinator to create the space required to hold these relations together.
